Beyond The Valley 2026: Ten Years, One Paddock, and John Summit at Midnight

Beyond The Valley 2026 is back to see out the year, and the Victorian NYE festival has picked a fitting way to start its second decade: a paddock at Barunah Plains, four days across the new year, and John Summit taking the midnight countdown. "Festivals matter more than ever," says BTV Co-Founder and Untitled Group Managing Partner Nicholas Greco. "They give people a place to belong, and a place to fall in love with music, and it's a privilege to play a part in that through BTV." As mission statements go, it beats "we sell wristbands", and after ten years he has earned the right to say it.

The headliners: a countdown, a GRAMMY cabinet, and a first-timer

Leading the whole thing is global dance heavyweight John Summit, who has landed the festival's most coveted slot, the New Year's Eve countdown. He arrives with more than a billion streams, two number one US dance radio hits, and eight top ten Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic songs, which is a polite way of saying you already know at least three of his tracks whether you meant to or not.

Then there is Black Eyed Peas, making an Australian exclusive appearance. Formed in 1995, six GRAMMYs, more than 35 million albums and 120 million singles sold. If you were sentient in 2009 you have done cardio to their catalogue, and you will again, in a paddock, at some indeterminate hour. Rounding out the top of the bill: KI/KI, the Dutch DJ who last year became the first woman to win the Dance category at the Netherlands' Edison Pop Awards, and Skepta, the Tottenham grime figurehead returning to BTV for the first time since 2019.

Aussie favourites, and an electronic bill that keeps going

The homegrown news is a good one: Ocean Alley make their Beyond The Valley debut, and The Veronicas return for their first BTV set since 2019. Add British jungle trailblazer Nia Archives, American musician Vince Staples, St Louis sibling duo Frost Children, and LA duo After, and that is before you get to the DJs.

For the electronic faithful, it is a deep bench: house institution Armand Van Helden, UK brothers Overmono, and American hitmaker Disco Lines, riding the viral 'No Broke Boys' remix. Also on deck are fan favourite Job Jobse, GRAMMY-nominated Jayda G, Boys Noize, Australian hitmaker Odd Mob, plus homegrown acts The Jungle Giants, Playlunch, Rum Jungle, 2charm and a long list more.

Away from the stages, BTV's The Lounge Room returns for 2026 with a packed programme of live podcasts, conversations and interactive experiences, including Ross + Will Weightman, Kath Ebbs and their 'Cowboy C*untry', and Fast Fashun turning textile surplus into festival fits. It is the bit you drift into at 3pm on day two and leave, somehow, ninety minutes later.

How to actually do a four-day new year festival

Beyond The Valley is a camping festival over the new year, which is the fun part and the logistics part in one. A few honest rules of thumb before you commit.

First, sort the group before the on-sale, not during it. Four days of camping is a "who is bringing the shade tent" conversation, and it is much calmer had in August than at 8:59am on ticket day. Decide numbers, decide who is driving, and pick one person to actually hold the tickets so nobody is refreshing three phones at once.

Second, the on-sale itself. A big festival on-sale is a queue, and the fair way to run one is a proper waiting list that holds your place in order, not a refresh-race that rewards the fastest thumb and the fastest internet. And the hill I will die on: if you miss out, do not pay a scalper triple face value. A resale listing at $600 for a $300 ticket is not a market, it is a tax on wanting to be there, and the money goes to someone who was never going to camp in a paddock anyway.

Third, plan for the actual days. New year in a Victorian paddock can be a stinker or a wind tunnel, sometimes in the same afternoon, so pack for both, hydrate like it is a competitive sport, and agree on a "if we lose each other, meet here" landmark, because phone reception at a bush festival is a rumour at best.
