From Excel Sheets to Punchlines: Mervyn Rozz Plays Sydney

Mervyn Rozz got into comedy the way a lot of us got into our actual jobs: by accident, while trying to leave an MBA classroom. The Chennai stand-up has a tour that says the accident worked out, and it reaches Sydney on Saturday 18 July 2026 at Dundas Community Centre, as part of his On Arrival run. Clean, corporate-friendly, and built almost entirely out of the awkward everyday moments most of us try to forget.

Who is Mervyn Rozz

Mervyn is a Chennai-based stand-up comedian who, by his own account, accidentally walked into comedy while trying to walk out of an MBA classroom. He went from composing Excel sheets in Loyola College to composing punchlines on stage, and the material still comes from the same place: lived experience. Sales targets, awkward meetings, family conversations, and everything in between. If you have ever sat through a performance review or a relative asking when you are getting married, you are the target audience.

The numbers back up the pitch: 250-plus live shows, 150-plus corporate performances, a live audience north of 50,000, and gigs in more than 20 countries. On Arrival is his latest special, drawn from his 2024 tour across Australia, England and Europe, and it follows his earlier hour, Moving On. Fellow comedian Aravind SA put it plainly: "Mervyn, your journey has been nothing short of an inspiration. You are a natural, my friend."

Dundas Community Centre is a small, intimate room, which is the ideal setting for crowd work and the worst setting for turning up on the night hoping for a spare seat.
