Overmono Bring 'Pure Devotion' to Wildlands Brisbane on New Year's Eve
Some people see out the year with a cheese platter and a countdown on the telly. Brisbane gets Welsh brothers Tom and Ed Russell melting a festival field instead. Overmono play Wildlands in Brisbane on Thursday 31 December 2026, which is a genuinely excellent way to spend a New Year's Eve, provided your idea of a good time involves breakbeats rather than a quiet lie-down.
When, where and how to get in
The facts, up top:
- Who: Overmono, the Welsh electronic brother duo (Tom and Ed Russell).
- What: a set at Wildlands, Brisbane, on their Australian summer run.
- When: Thursday 31 December 2026 (yes, New Year's Eve).
- Tickets: through Wildlands and Untitled Group.

Overmono Australian tour and Wildlands tickets via Untitled GroupA word on timing, because it matters here. The 12pm AEST, 16 September on-sale that's been going around is for the newly added Sydney and Melbourne headline shows, not the festival sets. The Brisbane appearance is part of Wildlands, so you get in through the festival ticket, not a standalone Overmono one.
Why the fuss
Overmono first made waves in 2021 with breakthrough track 'So U Kno', which led to a string of major festival slots and their 2023 debut album 'Good Lies'. Their sound pulls rave, UK garage, bass, breakbeat and techno together with emotional, chopped-up modern vocal styles, and it's earned them a place among the UK's most distinctive electronic acts. This run follows last month's release of their sophomore record 'Pure Devotion', and these are their first Australian sets around their sold-out 2024 tour.
On the new record, the brothers have been refreshingly honest about the fact that most of it came down to mucking about in the studio until something clicked.
For us, making music has always been about having fun. Being in the studio together, having a laugh, a never-ending process of exploring new ways of making tunes.
That included running tape over magnets, blowing up a few speakers, and oven-baking a cymbal covered in coffee grounds, crisps and vinegar. I have made worse decisions with an oven and fewer good results.
The full Australian summer run
Wildlands Brisbane is one stop on a busy few weeks. Overmono are already slated for festival appearances at Lost Paradise, Beyond The Valley and Wildlands (Brisbane and Perth), with the Sydney and Melbourne headline concerts added for the first week of 2027.

Actually landing a ticket
Because the Brisbane set sits inside Wildlands, you're buying a festival ticket, so sort that through Wildlands and Untitled Group rather than waiting on a separate Overmono on-sale. One honest bit of advice: buy the festival for the festival, not for a single act. Set times shift, stages clash, and a New Year's Eve line-up this size gives you plenty to do if one slot moves. Go for the whole day and treat Overmono as the very good reason you turned up.
If you'd rather chase one of the headline shows instead, those Sydney and Melbourne tickets go live at 12pm AEST on 16 September, so be logged in early with your card ready. A fair queue does not reward the fastest thumb, and we explained how ticket queues actually work if you want the full story before you refresh.

A Welsh duo, a festival field, and a countdown you'll actually feel in your chest. Ending the year on a breakbeat beats a cheese platter, and I say that as a man who loves a cheese platter.
