Montaigne Opens Their Glorious Heights Tour in Wollongong
Montaigne is bringing 'Glorious Heights' back to the stage a full decade after it landed, and they are kicking the whole thing off in Wollongong, which is a lovely way to make the Gong feel special and the rest of us feel behind on our own anniversaries. The Glorious Heights 10th-anniversary tour opens at La La La's on Friday 7 August 2026, with the album played in full live for the first time anywhere.

Montaigne tickets and tour infoThe plan for the night is generous: 'Glorious Heights' start to finish, live in full for the first time anywhere, then a second set with a sprinkling of favourites from across the years. Two sets, one very small room. La La La's is not exactly a stadium, which is rather the point.
Ten years of Glorious Heights
'Glorious Heights' peaked at number 4 on the ARIA Album Chart, picked up 2016 ARIA nominations for Breakthrough Artist Release and Best Female Artist, and was nominated for Australian Album Of The Year at the J Awards. Not a bad decade to celebrate.
What Montaigne did next is the part that makes the anniversary land harder. They represented Australia at Eurovision, released music with the legendary David Byrne, and became one of only a handful of Australian musicians nominated for a Grammy, for their work with composer Austin Wintory on the musical video game 'Stray Gods'.
Byrne, for his part, is a fan. "That quirkiness translates into complete heartfelt honesty and transparency about their feelings," he has said of Montaigne, "feelings many of us might be ashamed or afraid to admit to, all set to incredibly infectious tunes." When a Talking Head hands you a compliment like that, you frame it.
Montaigne is clear about what the tour is for. "I'm so excited to revisit this album with you all and celebrate the last ten years of Montaigne music and fandom," they said. "There'll be new merch, local support bands, joy, warmth, catharsis, and inclusivity." The pitch is a communal one: sing, laugh and cry together, with songs that were built for exactly that.
Here is a taste, if you need reminding why the album charted.
And Montaigne, being quietly ubiquitous and trying to make it less quiet, on the socials.

Actually getting to opening night
La La La's is a small Wollongong room, which is the whole appeal and also the whole risk. An intimate, first-night, full-album show in a venue that size is the kind of thing that quietly sells out while you are still deciding, so it pays not to sit on it. Grab the ticket, then work out what you are wearing.
If you want more to fill the calendar around it, have a look at what else is on in Wollongong, or cast the net wider and see what's happening across the country.
Ten years on, the album that started it all gets sung back word for word, in the Gong, on a Friday. Reaching glorious heights, you might say. I will see myself out, ideally to La La La's.
